Filip's Electronic Folding Plate Meter EC-09
Allows users to view pasture covers in the field and change formulas without needing to manually calculate. Averages the paddock cover, with farmers manually recording data in inputting into the included software program. Available as counter only to upgrade existing platemeters.
Filip's Electronic Folding Plate Meter EC-10
Allows users to view pasture covers in the field and change formulas without needing to manually calculate. Averages the paddock cover and stores data for up to 99 paddocks, that can be downloaded via USB cable directly into the software. Available as counter only to upgrade existing platemeters.
Which rising plate pasture meter to choose?
The Filip’s Manual Folding Plate Meter is low cost and works well, but does require meter readings to be converted into pasture cover values (usually back in the farm office). For each paddock measured, two or three counter readings must be written down in the supplied pocket-sized all-weather notebook.
The Filip’s Electronic Folding Plate Meter EC-09 and EC-10 are a little easier to use, though it does cost more. The instant readout is also great for training users to assess pasture cover ‘by eye’. All the calculations are done for you, so only a single value needs to be written down for each paddock.
The main elements of the two meters are identical – it’s only the counters that differ. They’re both high quality, accurate and reliable rising plate pasture meters and we don’t recommend one meter over the other. In the end, it comes down to personal preference and budget.
